Over the last 4 years, the Faith, Fitness & Fun event has generated over $67,500 to support the operations of the Seminary and College.
This year, there are 39 seminarians (representing 11 dioceses) discerning their call to the priesthood. 12 are on their internship year, working in parishes throughout western Canada, and 27 are living in-house at a temporary facility until their new home is completed in September 2010.
Our student body consists of individuals who are enrolled in part time and full time studies at Newman Theological College.
The Foundation of St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College exists to provide the financial resources necessary to support and sustain SJS & NTC in a leading role in theological education and priestly formation in Canada.
Graduates from the Seminary and College fill vital roles within the community including ministries in hospitals, prisons, schools and religious life.

St. Joseph Seminary
In September of 1927, Edmonton Archbishop H. J. O'Leary opened St. Joseph Seminary officially. During the course of its 78 years, over 500 men have gone forth from St. Joseph Seminary to serve the Lord in ordained ministry as priests. Many others, having received formation at St. Joseph's, continue to serve the Church in other ministries. St. Joseph Seminary continues in mission today to form and send forth those who will sow the Word in the fields of the Lord: "EXIIT QUI SEMINAT" (Luke 8:5) "The Sower went out..."
Newman Theological College
Newman Theological College was founded in 1969 by Archbishop Anthony Jordan. The need for training in theology, for seminarians and others who seek to deepen their understanding of the faith was evident. The College is a private, Catholic academic institution dedicated to the study of theology and related disciplines. Other Christian denominations are welcome to study here. Its charter to confer degrees was granted by the Government of Alberta on April 29, 1969. The College is an accredited member of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. Laymen and laywomen have made and will continue to make significant contributions to those who have "Faith Seeking Understanding."
