After 16 successful years of golf tournaments that support Newman Theological College and St. Joseph Seminary, it is clear that there are wonderful friends at work (perhaps even friends in high places!)  What perfect days we shared on July 7 & 8, 2008.  We couldn't have asked for more in terms of the weather, the hospitality, the prizes and your generosity that all helped to contribute to helping us raise $63,000!  Again, thank you for your incredible support in helping us realize this unprecedented total.  We increased the number of sponsors this year who have helped to make up for some of our increased costs and we gratefully acknowlege them for granting us one more year of grace where we have avoided raising the registration fee.

The 16^th Annual Allard Foundation Newman Challenge Golf Tournament was sold out with a waiting list before the Early Bird Deadline – much to our surprise.  This speaks to the popularity of this event – and prompts us to remind you to register early for next year.  As part of the evolution of our golf tournament, and to make sure you don’t miss out on the fun next year, we need to reinforce what was stated at the podium on Golf Day – after April 1, 2009, next year’s tournament will be filled on a first come, first served (i.e., first paid) basis.

We'd like you to remember with thanksgiving the following group of wonderful sponsors, beginning with: our Title Sponsor, the Allard Foundation, who has provided the funds to get us started for the past 15 years; Alta-Fab Structures sponsored the Pre tournament BBQ mixer; Adroit Investment Management Ltd. came through again with sponsorship of the Big Breakfast; and we are pleased that McCuaig Desrochers LLP returned as our Dynamite Driver Golf Cart sponsor.  For the first time, we’ve had the BBQ Steak luncheon sponsored – thanks to Cohos Evamy and Donna Clare Architect Ltd.  All these terrific sponsors, combined with the generosity of our Hole Sponsors (many have been with us since day one), major prize supporters (team and singles), Hole-in-One and cash donors, teamed with our volunteers make the tournament one of the most popular golf events in Edmonton.  Thank you and thank you again.
